Philadelphia Duck Boat Accident-Two Missing

According to an ABCNEWS article, two young tourists from Hungary are missing and several people were injured after a Philadelphia boating accident on July 7, 2010 . The popular "duck boat," an amphibious vehicle, was reported to have collided with a 250 foot long barge at around 2:00 p.m. near Penn's Landing in Philadelphia . The collision caused the boat to capsize.

 

According to the news report, the boat began having mechanical issues shortly after it entered the water. A fire started onboard and the boat's engine was shut down. As it waited for rescue, the collision occurred. Over 30 people, some children, went overboard and a handful of rescued passengers were taken to a nearby hospital. The National Transportation and Safety Board will conduct an investigation.
