We have helped numerous factory and warehouse workers who are operators of industrial heavy machines such as textile machines, sorting machines, and packaging machines.  The operators typically get injured while the machine is in operation.  The cause for the injury is often that the machine was defectively designed.

If you are an operator of an industrial machine that has multiple nip points, shear points or pinch points, you need to ask yourself the following questions to ensure you are working on a properly safeguarded machine:

  • Do the safeguards provided meet OSHA requirements?
  • Do the safeguards prevent your hands, arms, and other body parts from making contact with dangerous moving parts?
  • Are the safeguards firmly secured and not easily removable?
  • Is there a system for shutting down the machinery before safeguards are removed?

If you answered "no" to any of the questions above, then the machine you are working on may not be safe.
