Our client in this case was a young child. She was visiting her grandmother’s home when she was bitten by her grandmother’s Rottweiler. The Rottweiler was in the grandmother’s home under a breeding contract entered into between the grandmother and a commercial breeder. The little girl suffered a facial injury.
The case against the grandmother was a very straightforward case. However, her homeowner’s insurance coverage was only $50,000, a fraction of the full value of the little girl’s case. We investigated how she came to be in possession of this particular dog, since she was, in our opinion, clearly ill-equipped to properly care for and safely manage this dog. We were able to make out a case of negligence against the breeding company which placed this dog in the grandmother’s home. We utilized the services of expert witnesses in the fields of canine behavioral science, dog breeding, dog training and dog handling. We were able to achieve an unprecedented victory for our client, in the form of a confidential settlement which will pay the little girl many millions of dollars over her lifetime.
