How can emergency stops or E-stops cause injuries to industrial machinery operators?

A:

There are 2 important points with respect to emergency stops or E-stops. The first one is the location of the emergency stop button.  Obviously, the button or switch has to be located within arm's reach of the location where the emergency is likely to happen.  If not, then the operator is likely to get injured when there is an emergency situation.

The second important point is that the emergency stop has to actually stop the moving parts of the machine quickly enough to either eliminate or minimize the injury to the operator.
