I sent my dog to a 2 week training program and he came back a completely different dog. He had never bitten me before, and after he came back I was attacked and bitten. Is there anything I can do?

A:

You may have a case against the dog training facility if we can prove that the facility's negligent training methods caused a change in your dog's temperament and behavior, which resulted in your attack.  Serious unprovoked dog attacks can be the result of trainers or “obedience schools” using improper training methods that adversely impact a dog’s temperament.

We would need more information from you with regard to your dog's behavior prior to going to training, his behavior after the training, how long you had him, etc.

Further, we would need to investigate the facility's training program in terms of its methods etc.  For example, if your dog was physically abused by a trainer that led to your dog's behavior changes, the training facility may be responsible for your injuries.  If the dogs were kicked, slapped, screamed at or strangled as part of "training", we can further argue that the facility was not just negligent, but that type of behavior was outrageous, cruel and extremely dangerous which resulted in your attack.

As you can see, we need more information from you in order to properly assess your case.  Feel free to contact me @ 877.944.8396.
