I was in a car accident in New Jersey and the accident was not my fault. I have medical bills. Who pays for them?

A:

New Jersey, like Pennsylvania, is a "No Fault" state, which means that regardless of fault, persons injured in an accident will make a claim for medical benefits under their respective auto insurance policies.  New Jersey law requires registered car owners to carry certain amounts of Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or what is also called Medical Benefits Coverage.  See our recent article about New Jersey PIP benefits.
