For Immediate Release
March 18, 2012
Since September, 2011, there have been 4 recalls of various types of lawn care equipment. On March 12, 2012, yet another recall was issued. American Honda lawn or grass trimmers were recalled due to a laceration hazard. Below are other recent Consumer Product Safety Commission recall alerts:
Fourteen thousand American Honda Grass Trimmers were recalled due to potential cracking in the shaft, which could cause the gear case and cutting attachment to detach. This poses a laceration hazard to the grass trimmer operator and bystanders. As of the date of the recall, there were 11 incidents of broken or cracked shafts.
The model number involved is: HHT35SUKAT. The trimmer is gas-powered and has red engine housing with the word "Honda" on the top front and a bicycle handlebar-style grip. A label on the shaft includes the words "Honda" and "HHT35S." Recalled trimmers are in the serial number range HAHA-1000001 to HAHA-1017345. The serial number is located on the top side of the shaft below the handlebars.
These trimmers were sold at Honda power equipment dealers and online from May, 2006 to February, 2012 for approximately $420. For more information, contact American Honda toll-free at (888) 888-3139 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit American Honda's website.
