On March 22, 2013, White and Williams LLP formally adopted Spring Garden Elementary School during a kick-off event that included a $10,000 check presentation, a celebration of the students’ achievements resulting from the Positive Intervention Behavior & Support Initiative and the exchange of gifts between the firm and the school.
The "Adopt A School" program started last year as one of the ways the firm is giving back to the Philadelphia Community by helping and supporting a Philadelphia School. For other community outreach programs, see The Teen Driving Summit Program: No Texting While Driving Program.
Last year, White and Williams LLP adopted Masterman for a year, and it was a great success.
Spring Garden Elementary School is in need of a library and new books. The library has been closed for 10 years due to renovation needs and the fact that none of the books in the library's existing supply were published during this century.
The students welcomed the firm into their family by presenting a signed banner and a pledge to live by their code of honor that states:
In the next year the firm will support other school activities such as, the “Girls Unite” program through discussion and mentoring, the donation of school supplies, participation in “Clean Up Day,” and other ways to connect lawyers and staff with the students as the need presents itself.
