July 12, 2011 - Philadelphia, Penn. - A 14-year-old Philadelphia boy faces murder charges after his actions led to a fatal accident in Philadelphia. Police say the young man stole his mother's car keys and took her Chrysler Sebring for a joyride late at night on Thursday, June 30.
The teen, who recently turned 14, was reported to have frequently teased his mother about taking her car for a joyride. Police say on June 30 he snatched the keys to her sedan at 2 a.m. and took 3 of his friends on a reckless drive that included whizzing past the police on I-95 without headlights and blowing through a red light off the northbound ramp, at which point the driver lost control of the car and slammed into a Chevrolet Impala and Volkswagen Jetta.
All 4 of the teenagers in the Sebring suffered non-life threatening injuries. The 2 passengers of the Impala, a male and female both age 22, emerged miraculous unscathed. The driver of the Volkswagen Jetta's driver, Jess Feldman, 20, sustained serious injuries, and the other passenger, her boyfriend Dan Fouracre, 22, died at the scene.
In addition to murder, the 14-year-old has been charged with reckless driving, violating curfew, and driving without a license.
