43 Types of Over-the-Counter Children’s Medicines Recalled

Posted on May 11, 2010

A massive recall has been issued on more than 40 types of child and infant over-the-counter medications manufactured by McNeil, a division of Johnson & Johnson. The children's medicine recall has been issued because of manufacturing defects found in liquid forms of Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl. The recall comes after an inspection by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in April in which various manufacturing errors were identified.

WebMD Health News
reports that although there have been no reported injuries associated with the recalled children's drugs, parents are urged to cease use of the recalled products and to closely monitor any child that has taken the recalled drug.

Defective Consumer Products and Product Liability Claims in Pennsylvania

When a manufacturer or retailer makes, ships, and sells a consumer product that is defective, mislabeled or dangerous, there is often a potential for injury or even death. While there have been no injuries associated with these particular recalled children's drugs, the story demonstrates how a product that is meant to make a person's life better in some way can actually cause harm.

When a consumer is injured because of a defective product, they may choose to file a product liability claim in order to collect damages to pay for their resultant medical bills and lost wages
. Product liability claims protect consumers and provide financial restitution when consumer/manufacturer trust is violated in a profound way.

If you or your child has been injured by a defective product, you shouldn't have to deal with the medical bills or lost wages that were a result of someone else's negligence.
