74-Year-Old Woman Turns Herself in for Fatal Hit and Run in Upper Providence Township

May 2, 2011 - Upper Providence Township, PA - According to a report from Philly.com, a 74-year-old woman has turned herself in for a fatal hit and run that took place on Wednesday, April 27, in the Upper Providence Township.

Kristy Bender, 26, of Royersford was struck and killed in the 1200 block of Township Line Road, where she was on her way home after working at Kohl's. Bender was thrown onto a grassy area that was close to the Township line roadway.

Bender was taken to Pottstown Memorial Hospital. According to Walter I. Hofman, the Montgomery County Coroner, she died as a result of multiple injuries.

Patricia Maurer, 74, of Gilbertsville, said she didn't know she had hit someone until she arrived home and saw there was damage to her vehicle. She immediately called her children and the police were notified. Maurer has not yet spoken with authorities and it is unclear at this time if charges will be filed against her.
