Last week, 2,500 BMX bike helmets were recalled due to a potential for malfunction of the helmet safety strap. The strap may be subject to inadvertent release, allowing the helmet to fall off the rider. While no injuries have yet been reported, the potential for failure of the strap poses a very serious risk of head injury.
The Bell Full Throttle Bike Helmets were manufactured in China and imported by Bell Sports Inc. of California. They were sold exclusively in retail Toys R Us stores as well as online via ToysRUs.com between the summer of 2012 and January 2013.
