A 22 year-old Chester County woman, Jessica Lynn Copeland, was charged with buying alchohol to minors, and corruption to minors on Wednesday, Septebmer 8, 2010. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the charges came from an investigation of a one-vehicle accident on July 16, 2010 in Honey Brook Township.
The 16 year-old driver Montgomery "Monte" Wood was drivng a car with 3 other minor passengers. The teens decided to take the car out for a middle-of-the-night spin and none of the teens was a licensed driver. The car Wood was driving crossed the eastbound lane of Beaver Dam Road, hit a tree, and then spun into a utlity pole. Wood and his front passegner were killed. The other two passenbers, both 15 years old, were injured.
The police said prior to the accident, Copeland took Wood and his front seat passenger to a beer distributor and a State Store and bought malt beverages and whiskey with the teen's money. Copeland then took the pair to her residence, where the other 2 passengers were waiting. The teenagers left with the alcohol and began drinking.
