Distracted Driver Pleads Guilty to Route 23 Head-On Collision

March 18, 2011 - Franklin, NJ - According to a report from NJ.com, a distracted driver pled guilty on March 14 for a Route 23 head-on collision that happened on November 3, 2009. 

Ana Philback, 30, of Hamburg, was typing in a location on her car's navigation system when she crashed into another car along Route 23 in Franklin. Philback also admitted to drinking a glass of wine prior to the crash.

Nancy Lagattuta, 53, of Sussex Borough, was seriously injured in the head-on collision. She suffered broken ribs and a broken leg.

Philback suffered only minor injuries in the head-on crash and pled guilty to 4th degree assault by car and reckless driving. She is scheduled to be sentenced on May 6 and also faces the possibility of deportation, since she was an illegal immigrant at the time of the crash.
