ICON Health and Fitness has issued a voluntary recall on thousands of weight machines because of a risk of the user falling and suffering a serious head or neck injury during use.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the ankle clamp on a recalled inversion bench can break unexpectedly, posing a risk of serious spinal, neck or head injuries. So far, there have been at least 75 reports of the straps breaking and 23 reported injuries in connection with the recalled fitness equipment.
The inversion bench recall includes roughly 33,000 benches, sold at sporting good stores and other retailers, such as Walmart and Sears. The benches were priced at $200-$300 and were sold throughout the United States between April 2008 and February 2009.
