Head-On Car Crash Fatally Injures South Jersey Detective

August 5, 2011 - Burlington County, Pa - A detective employed in Ocean County died on Monday, August 1, in a head-on collision in Burlington County, police said.

According to report at Philly.com, 35-year-old Tina Rambo was in her work vehicle, a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria, when she was hit head-on by a 2004 Saturn Ion, around 8 a.m. in Southampton, on Route 70. She was eastbound while Rachel Portnoy, 24, a resident of Marlton, was westbound. Portnoy swerved into the eastbound lane and the crash ensued, police said.

Rambo was pronounced dead at the scene; Portnoy was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital. She sustained severe leg injuries. Both victims had been wearing seatbelts.

Charges have not been filed, but the accident is still being investigated.

Rambo had served in the prosecutor's office for about a decade, working in various areas including special victims, narcotics task force, and domestic violence. She leaves behind a husband and 2 children.
