July 6, 2010 - A product recall has been issued for Animal Crackers Giant Stacking Toys, which are manufactured by One Step Ahead of Lake Bluff, Illinois.
The voluntary recall has been issued because of a hazard with the product's fabric covering. According to the recall, the fabric covering the stacking ring's center pole can come apart at the seam, exposing the foam material inside. The foam material poses a choking and aspiration hazard to young children.
No serious injuries have been reported in connection with the dangerous children's product.
The dangerous toy was manufactured in China and was sold in One Step Ahead's catalogue, and through the company's website, between October 2008 and April 2010.
Consumer Reports says that more than 80% of defective products that were recalled in 2007 and 2008 were made in China and shipped to the United States for sale.
If your child was injured because of a defective product or dangerous toy, you may be eligible for a product liability claim. These are complicated cases, as it can sometimes be difficult to prove that a manufacturer defect was responsible for your child's injuries.
