On November 1, 2012, the recycling company Vortex Recycling Inc. in New Castle, PA was cited by OSHA for 27 workplace safety and health hazards.
The 27 hazards included, but were not limited to, the following serious violations:
A serious violation occurs when there is a substantial possibility that death or serious physical harm could result from the safety hazard which the employer knew or should have known about.
We have represented many workers who were injured while on the job as a result of all of the above serious violations. The workers often suffer serious and permanent injuries. For example, an unguarded industrial machine can lead to crush or amputation injuries. Fall hazards can result in death or catastrophic orthopedic injuries, and electrical hazards can lead to electrocution or death.
These types of violations must be taken seriously and corrected immediately. If you were injured while at work due to an unguarded industrial machinery, a fall hazard or an electrical hazard, it is imperative that you speak to an experienced Pennsylvania construction and industrial accident lawyer about your legal rights.
