Chambersburg, PA - According to USA Today, a school bus carrying 23 adults and children to camp overturned after hitting another vehicle. Edward Shaffer, 79, was passing the school bus on the left when he narrowly avoided a crash with an oncoming vehicle. Instead, he caused a different crash by overcorrecting his car into the right lane, causing it to spin sideways and get hit by the school bus. Shaffer's vehicle hit the guardrail and went into a ditch. The school bus overturned and landed partially in the ditch.
The school bus was being driven by Joseph Henderson, 52, of Chambersburg, PA and was coming from Cumberland Valley Christian School. Though four people, including Shaffer, had to be rescued from the crash, the extent of the victims' injuries were not severe. There were some broken bones and bruises.
After a preliminary investigation officials said that Shaffer looked as though he was at fault and that his reckless driving caused the accident. Charges could be filed.
