Valco Baby is voluntarily recalling 12,000 jogging strollers because they pose a strangulation hazard. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the Valco Baby TriMode Single and Twin Jogging Strollers.
The strollers, which were manufactured in China, were sold at various websites and baby product stores between November 2007 and March 2010 for $480-$700.
The strangulation hazard involves an opening between the seat bottom and the grab bar. An infant who is not harnessed could slide through the opening until their neck becomes entrapped by the grab bar.
Although no injuries have been reported, parents and caregivers are advised to always use a safety harness to secure their children in a stroller and to never leave children unattended in a stroller.
The recalled strollers have "Valco Baby" imprinted on the footboard padding and head rest. The grab bar, which is optional, is removable.
Look for a white sticker on the brake bar to find the model number and compare it with the following recalled stroller models:
Consumers should remove the grab bar and contact Valco Baby at 800-610-7850 for a free replacement.
